First, I want to say how incredibly sorry I am that this happened. It breaks my heart and saddens me so much to hear about what happened to so many women in your family. It is inexcusable and I can only hope that the victims are somehow able to find closure and peace. I feel their pain and I know justice is so far away for many of us. I hope that putting this piece out there, giving it voice and light will give victims some of their power back and for them to know that so many of us stand in solidarity with them. Now that it is exposed, perhaps we can start the healing process for all of the victims who have suffered for decades. Thank you for reading and for sharing. If she isn’t already, I hope your cousin seeks out therapy. It can help. If she is in the Twin Cities area, https://walkin.org/ offers free anonymous counseling. They helped me a great deal. The St. Paul location is the best. She doesn’t have to give her name, but it’ll be good for her to talk about it in a safe place with someone who understands. Please follow me on FaceBook and let me know how she does.

Much love,

Yia
