I don't mind people taking their own spin on recipes, but just don't go around saying that it's the authentic stuff, you know? Cultures merge and blend as people merge and blend, but if you're an "expert" showing people how to "do something" the right way and then you fuck it up but still present it as "the real deal," then we have a problem. All I ask is that these people say "This is not how XYZ culture does it, but this is my version of it," I'd be okay with that. But don't co-opt someone else's culture, mangle it, and then call it the real deal to other people who are ignorant of what's what who will take you for your word. That's just blasphemy. LOL
