I guess I'm one of the few writers that make more than $100/mo here on Medium, but that too is frustrating because many of my pieces drive a lot of readers to Medium but I do not make enough here. A few of my articles have gone viral with over 200K+ views/reads, but the pay return is sadly less than pennies per reader. I think that if you want to keep quality writers with quality content with unique voices, there needs to be better incentive to stay on this platform. Perhaps pay us for every reader, not just members who read our pieces. Perhaps offer up a tip function the way that Vocal Media does so that we don't need to open Ko-Fi accounts. Make engagement and appreciation between readers and writers easier. We'll be more likely to keep creating content for your platform if there were more benefits for us.
