Thank you for your response. The point is that we are ALL responsible. That's why it's addressed to ALL Black folks. We are ALL responsible for correcting wrongs when we see them being done. It is like when we tell men that they are ALL responsible for standing up to patriarchy and the bad behavior of other men. If we are truly to be a community, then we must act like one. That is the point. The other point is if there is to be peace, there needs to be this hard talk about why so many Asians have trust issues with Black people and Black people must be willing to listen. We talk about uniting the two communities, yet that will not be possible on the ground level unless we have a come to Jesus and really listen. The surface level talk of unity if only going to connect the minority of us. The majority will still hang on to their resentments and will not trust or reach out, that is why I wrote this piece. Black people say that Asians are racist all the time, but mostly, Asians are just distrustful because of so many bad experiences in the neighborhoods they live in, so to undo that, we must be open to listening and accepting of what people's experiences have been like. Otherwise, nothing will get resolved.
